The world's first tweeting chicken is here, and how!

Social media is undoubtedly one of the most important things to have happened to the world. But of course, there are times when people take social media a bit too seriously. [caption id=“attachment_2471860” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Betty the chicken doing what it does best. Screenshot from YouTube video. Betty the chicken doing what it does best. Screenshot from YouTube video.[/caption] Now we often see people and companies carefully planning marketing strategies on Facebook and Twitter. We see people who obsess over the ‘right way’ to tweet or post something on Facebook. And of course, almost all of us are paranoid of being suddenly attacked by online trolls. Because of such worries, we often forget what one of the main objectives of social media, when it started out, was: to have fun simply by sharing something an individual thought others should see without the fear of getting attacked by others. In perhaps one of the most hilarious spoofs of social media and its hyped importance in the world today, Chicken Treat, an Australian food chain, has handed over control of its Twitter account to a chicken. Yes, you read that right. The world’s first tweeting chicken has arrived. And how! The purpose is for the chicken, named Betty, to obtain a Guinness World Record for becoming the first chicken to tweet a five-letter word before 30 October, according to Digiday. Just to give you an idea of how difficult that is, here are some of Betty’s tweets:

And it doesn’t end there. Chicken Treat even posted some videos of Betty on YouTube to show the achievements of “the chicken born to make history”.

Even more hilarious is this video which shows how Betty was ’trained’ for tweeting:
