The Jumbo Musician: This 14-year-old temple elephant plays the mouth organ

Temple elephant Lakshmi has become the centre of attraction for the visitors at the 48-day rejuvenation camp at Thekkampatti near Mettupalayam, about 50 km from Coimbatore.

At the command of her mahaout, the 14-year-old pachyderm plays a mouth organ. She also grooves to its tune, much to the amusement of the visitors. While Lakshmi hogs the limelight, her fellow jumbos are ought to feel feel neglected. This year, around 30 female elephants are participating in the annual camp, which started on 7 February.
