One of the questions that worries most men much more than they’d like to admit is the average size of the penis. Science has finally come to the rescue as the average size of the penis has been revealed in a study. [caption id=“attachment_2138077” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Representational image. Reuters[/caption] Researchers in the urology journal BJU International, after conducting a study of over 15,000 penises of men across Asia, Africa, Europe and the US have come to the conclusion that the average length of the erect penis is 5.1 inches (13.12 centimetres), according to
Vox. On the other hand, the average length of a penis in a flaccid state is 3.1 inches (9.31 centimetres). This should come as a relief to most men, since the average penis size was believed to be 6 inches. The report also said that there is not much difference between the erect penis sizes of most men. 25 percent of the men had a penis 4.7 inches long, and another 25 percent had 5.6 inches. Only 1 percent of men had a penis nothing less than 9 inches long. If you thought this wasn’t important information, you should know that doctors will actually use the graph devised from the collated numbers from the study to counsel men with ‘small penis anxiety’. Yes, you heard that right. In worst cases, men suffering from ‘small penis anxiety’ may be diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder – a debilitating psychological condition that can lead to obsessive and anti-social behaviour, depression and even suicide, according to
The Guardian. The report added that the study participants were men between 17 and 91 years of age. The study also concluded that penis size does not depend on race. It also did not find any correlation between a man’s foot size and penis size.
