The world witnesses many marathons but the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon stands out by an arm from the rest. The annual movement that gets this already-perky city on its toes, literally, is back with a bang – this time with a noble, beautiful twist. [caption id=“attachment_127161” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Even if you don’t have the band, love and cheer can be spread all over Mumbai by sharing the Good Deed stories[/caption] Standard Chartered is back, this year, with a campaign that invites Mumbaiites to spread stories of their good deeds and smiles, one deed at a time. This is a movement, where you don’t need running shoes or stamina; you just need a big heart. So all that you have to do is register and ‘do good’. It also gives you a chance to win a Good Deed marathon starter pack, if you happen to be one of the first 2,000 participants. Here’s the ‘good’ deal: 1. Do one good deed. It doesn’t necessarily need to measure up in size; as long as you bring a smile to someone’s face, you’ve aced it. . It could be buying a chocolate bar for a street urchin and capturing the smile on his face or as big as taking a destitute old person to hospital. 2. Tell the world what you did. Now’s not the time to feel shy, because this is about creating a chain of good deeds! Submit it on our Facebook page or mobile app, tweet it out with the hashtag #GoodDeedMarathon, or even Instagram a picture with the same hashtag. 3. That’s it. Now, you pay it forward. Give your band to a friend, a colleague, a stranger, anyone, and tell them to do the same. Even if you don’t have the band, love and cheer can be spread all over Mumbai by sharing the stories, because Mumbai not only has quick feet but also a heart of gold. So, a chain of good deeds is expected this year. The first 2,000 to register will get a Good Deed Marathon starter pack, delivered by Mirakle Couriers, a National Award winning courier agency that employs low-income deaf adults and has created job opportunities for them where none existed. That’s one good deed already! Participants can submit their deeds on the Good Deed Marathon app. Constant updates, pictures on the marathon and the campaign will also be available on the app, which is available for iOS here and for Android here. Standard Chartered has also made a film on Mumbai’s generosity which can be watched on YouTube and above. More information is available here and on Instagram.
