Every year The Times of India oraganises a college-level beauty pageant ‘Campus Princess’ to “scouts potential beauty queens by engaging with the student community.” [caption id=“attachment_2281848” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Models during Campus Princess. Image from Facebook.[/caption] To participate, one must be between the age of 18-27 years, enrolled in a recognized educational institution and unmarried (although for the application form lets you choose from other statues too). But the organisers are looking for more than what’s above. In a Facebook post on their official page, the organizers posted the following If you’re a size ten, well you need a dietitian. If you prefer books my dear, good luck with your career. If you are below 18 or above 27, then darling you need to be born again. If you‘re shorter than 5’5”, you have missed the cut. If you’re none of the above, but you’re smoking hot, with a killer bod and coupled with a striking personality and attributes we consider ‘Appropriate’ Baby then you have a chance to be the next: #CampusPrincess So, according to the Times of India, an ideal candidate for their beauty pageant is the one who keeps herself away from books and in a perfect shape. But all the requirements can be tossed if you are ‘smoking hot, with a killer bod’. (This perhaps explains the marriage status options in their application form.) After countless campaigns in the past few years by organisations and companies around the world to shed the conventional idea of beauty, TOI, one of the most widely circulated publication, didn’t think twice before publishing this. As the word spread, Twitter users lashed out at the publication.
Dear #CampusPrincess, I have only one thing to tell you.

(And you cant be a size 10 forever)

“If you prefer books my dear, good luck with your career.” Ugh. The Times Group sounds like it's hunting for editors. http://t.co/6wirBbBKzc

Gee @timesofindia, gotta love your specifications. Cause clearly, a short and plump nerd can't be a campus princess. https://t.co/yFpQ42yNX8
