For over half a century, we have been waking up to the Common Man. And the cartoonist, RK Laxman who created the iconic comic strip died on Monday in a Pune hospital. PTI/File image[/caption] The Common Man represented the hopes, aspirations, troubles and perhaps even foibles of the average Indian, through a daily comic strip, “You Said It” in The Times of India. The comic was started in 1951. Apart from imminent personalities like, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Sonia Gandhi to journalists like Rajdeep Sardesai, Twitterati came out in full force to pay their tributes to the legendary cartoonist.
