The Nobel foundation, which seeks to celebrate humanity’s greatest achievements in various fields, is seeking to climb down from its ivory tower and become more accessible. And India is a major part of this plan. Earlier this year, the foundation started an initiative called the Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative, described by the official website as “a global programme designed to help Nobel Laureates share their inspirational stories and insights”. And India is scheduled to be a key focus area. According to a report in the Telegraph , “the biggest initiative in its 114-year history would be launched in India in October around the theme of “ideas changing the world”. “Two Nobel laureates, whose names are to be finalised soon, will travel to India and several universities will be drafted to absorb the inspiration behind the annual Nobel awards” the report added. There was no further information available on the initiative, but the Telegraph said that The Foundation’s plans for India in October will coincide with the Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Week, which has been observed now for seven years in a row in select Indian cities.
