Author Neel Mukherjee’s family saga set in Kolkata, The Lives of Others, has been shortlisted for the 2014 Man Booker Prize.  "I am absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2014. It is a great and singular honour to be amongst the other authors on the list," Mukherjee was quoted as saying in a release from his publisher Penguin Random House. The four other authors shortlisted for the prize include Howard Jacobson for J, Richard Flanagan for The Narrow Road to the Deep North, Ali Smith for How To Be Both and Joshua Ferris’ To Rise Again at a Decent Hour.
