Kerala kids' Ferrari ki sawaari prompts online outrage

Ferrari sportscars in India are unusual enough. But, when a child takes out a  Ferrari Scuderia for a spin in a colony in Thrissur, Kerala it becomes a viral video with bloggers on automotive issues from as far off as Canada commenting on it. A YouTube video of two kids driving the sportscar around a colony in Thrissur has gone viral with the video getting over 6 lakh views since it was uploaded on 10 April. [caption id=“attachment_699008” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Screengrab from the YouTube video. Screengrab from the YouTube video.[/caption] The video shows one of the boys driving around the colony in the car while being filmed by an adult. They drive by twice and then come to a halt when the boy behind the wheel is told to park it. Even as their friends clamour around the car asking to take photos of the car, the two get out of the car and hand over the keys to the waiting adult. And no, the kids hadn’t run off with his car, evident by the way he takes the keys, says “Enough” and ends the video recording.

Understandably the video has prompted outrage over how the parent could allow the boy to drive the car around the colony at risk not only to himself but others as well. https://twitter.com/pramodsarang/status/323650089031696384 Autoblog Canada also had criticism for the parents of the kids for handing over the keys of the super car. “While we have seen a 4-year-old in China operating a motor vehicle and an 8-year-old girl tearing up an icy stretch of road in Russia, we can safely say that this underage driving stunt is by far the wildest yet considering these kids are driving a Ferrari!” Autoblog’s Mark Pereira wrote. However, there’s another video of two kids driving around in a Range Rover SUV in Thrissur that was uploaded in November last year. While some commentators in the video have hinted it was the same kids, we’ll leave it to you to decide, which of the two videos is more disturbing.
