Abroad trips are amazing! You go to a different country to experience a different culture, eat delicious food, see beautiful monuments, take a lot of pictures, and when you return your world turns upside down. You start thinking ‘ye sadke itni gandi toh nahi thi?’ This happens because you start comparing the cleanliness in India to the country you visited. And below are the reaction of a person who has returned to India after a fancy trip to abroad.
You are hit by a strong odour as soon as you step out of the airport.
via GIPHYThe view from your window changes drastically from little shops in cobbled lanes to overflowing trash bins and people going about their morning routine.
via GIPHYYou feel scandalised when people throw trash but not in a dustbin.
via GIPHYYou start watching every step you take, every move you make and every breath you take to not smell or step on something undesirable.
via GIPHYWhen you pass by a public urinal and have a flashback of your previous life.
via GIPHYAfter a while, you start complaining about the sanitary situation of the country.
You finally decide to start a cleanliness initiative with your friends and neighbours.
via GIPHYAlthough, after a while, things go back to the way they were before your trip to abroad and you become a little carefree with your trash disposing habits.
via GIPHYBut you know what? We wouldn’t have these reactions if we made a commitment to keep our surroundings clean. Swachh Bharat will remain a slogan if we do not decide to do something about it ourselves. Sure actions like Adar Poonawalla’s Clean City initiative will go a long way in cleaning up our cities, but no amount of money or technology can help keep the country clean if we don’t play our part.
