What happens when a show which promises to show people a man getting eaten alive by an anaconda backs down on its promise? Scorn, and ridicule if Twitter is to be believed. [caption id=“attachment_1841337” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]
Naturalist Paul Rosolie was ridiculed for failing to be swallowed by an anaconda. AFP[/caption] When naturalist Rosolie wanted to focus attention on the destruction of the Amazon rainforest, he decided he needed a stunt guaranteed to get people watching. So the staunch environmentalist said he would himself as dinner to an anaconda — and would be swallowed alive, filming every moment. Much fuss was made about a ‘special suit’ that Rosolie was supposed to have developed for the purpose of the stunt, which would prevent him from being eaten alive or being constricted and also not harm the snake. Except that is not exactly what happened. What Rosolie did not anticipate was that the anaconda would try crushing him before swallowing him. During the event, Rosolie felt his arm breaking because the snake was crushing him. Eventually, he had to be rescued and could not be swallowed alive by the snake. Twitter reacted negatively to Rosolie’s failed stunt. Here are some of the prominent tweets:
