Doodh ki shakti: Bhutan PM loves Amul so much, he wants 2,000 cows from India

The Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay apparently loves Amul. In fact, he loves it so much that he wants Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) to help him source 2,000 cows from India, so that he can drink his own Amul! According to reports, Tobgay visited the Amul Dairy in Anand on Tuesday, with a 19-member delegation that included his wife Aum Tashi Doma. He then wanted GCMMF’s help to source cows to Bhutan. I have heard about this lovely city — Anand,” Tobgay was quoted by Times Of India as saying. Like Indian parents, the PM also believes milk is absolutely essential for children. “My daughter is 15 years old but she is tall and big. It is all because of the power of milk,” he said during his visit. Tobgay’s handwritten note in the guest book of Amul Cooperative said, “It is my honour to visit Anand to pay my respects to Sardar Patel, a giant among men and Dr Verghese Kurien, an inspiration to people world over. Thank you Team Amul for your hospitality.” RS Sodhi, managing director of GCMMF that markets India’s largest food brand Amul told reporters that they have promised to help Togbay in the project of choosing cows for Bhutan. “They want to give cows to their farmers and want to buy jersey and HF breed of cows," Sodhi was quoted by Indian Express as saying.
