Delhi teenager mowed down by train while trying to save his dog

In a heartbreaking tragedy, a dog and his owner were mowed down by a train in Delhi. According to the Times of India, 19-year-old Ankit died in a futile attempt to save his dog from being crushed under a train. Ankit risked his own life while desperately trying to get his black labrador back to safety after he strayed onto the train tracks. AFP[/caption] He tried lifting the dog to safety but the train hit both of them before they could get to safety. According to the report, Ankit was seriously injured and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The Times of India report quoted the boy’s father, Ran Singh, as saying, “Our boy has passed away .What’s the use of reporting the incident now? Railways have put no overbridge or boundary wall to stop people from crossing tracks.” This is not the first time a pet owner has risked his life to save man’s best friend.  AP reported that a 34-year-old man from Brooklyn drowned while trying to save his dog from a frozen pond in upstate New York in March this year. In June, A one-legged man who was struck and killed by a train was trying to save his dog while in a wheelchair, witnesses told CBS Sacramento. A man in Britain drowned while desperately trying to rescue his dog after it got into trouble swimming in the sea. Another couple plunged headfirst down a cliff trying to save their dog, only one of them survived the fall.
