Australian woman wakes up with horrific frostbites after passing out on Canadian street

An Australian woman who had moved to Canada had an experience that would perhaps serve as a lesson for everyone living in a cold nation: no matter what stay warm at all times. Emma Quirk, originally from New South Wales, was out with her girlfriends on a cold day in December last year in Prince Albert, Canada and according to this report by Huffington Post Canada, some heavy drinking and “ninja shots” later, she passed out sometime around 2 am. Unfortunately she passed out while she was out on street where it was a freezing -30 degrees Celsius and with no money. The next thing she remembers is being taken to the hospital at 5:45 am where the nurse told her that she was lucky to keep her hands. Quirk’s fingers swelled into massive puss-filled orange blisters, which were eventually deflated by a specialist. But even after that she was left with callous covered hands that looked like bad gloves.
