She might be a fashion icon across the world but Queen Elizabeth isn’t a fan of granddaughter-in-law Kate Middleton’s high street fashion sense. In fact, reportedly the Queen has planned a royal makeover for the Duchess. According to a Mail Online report, Kate Middleton’s short and girly dresses have failed to get a royal nod from Queen Elizabeth and the Queen has asked the Duchess to lower the hemlines of her skirts by a notch. Not only is Kate expected to wear longer skirts during her Australia and New Zealand trip this April but also reportedly the duchess has been asked to wear tiaras. Kelly, who has been dressing up the queen for all her foreign trips for last 20 years, will now help the duchess choose statement jewellery and gemstones from the queen’s personal collection. “This forms part of a deliberate move to shift the Duchess’s image from High Street to high end, timeless Royal elegance – without losing her freshness and informality.” writes Mail Online. The duchess however has already expressed her desire to have her favourite designers like McQueen and Alice Temperley onboard. They are expected to create her bespoke gowns. The Duchess will be touring across Australia and New Zealand for three and a half weeks and is reportedly going to wear four different outfits each day. While the queen’s personal dresser will help in Kate’s makeover, the duchess will be accompanied by her personal hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker during her Australia trip.
