Choudhary said the girl in a declaration had alleged that a person had raped her on Thursday and later his family set her on fire.

He further said that the families of the victim and the accused knew each other.

The girl was studying in a bachelor of arts course in a local college, and was at her residence when the incident took place.

However, an NDTV report has said that the accused had invited the girl to his house where he and three other men had raped her. When the girl threatened to complain, they set her on fire.
