Teenager allegedly raped, beheaded in Faridabad
Police say a 30-year-old man, who has confessed to killing the teen, has been arrested.
On the eve of Republic Day, another crime has highlighted the fact that the National Capital Region (NCR) still remains unsafe for women.
A class XII student was found murdered in Gandhi Colony, NID Faridabad today. Her family alleges she was raped before being killed.
Police say a 30-year-old man, who has confessed to killing the teen, has been arrested. The girl's body showed serious injuries on her neck and stomach which appear to have been caused by a knife. Her head had almost been entirely severed, said police.
The incident reportedly took place when the girl had gone out to attend her tuition classes on Thursday afternoon. The girl's body had been found near a guest house.
A friend revealed that the victim knew the accused and that he used to stalk her, reported NDTV.
According to Indian Express, the owner of the guest house, where the girl was found, said the couple had come to her place and asked to be given a room on rent. On being told to provide proof of identity, the man, whose name is reportedly Sonu, said he would give it later.
But within 15-20 minutes, the owner saw the man leaving in a rush. She found the girl lying dead in the room. Acting on the information provided by the family and the girl's friend, police rushed to Tawdu village in Mewar and arrested Sonu.
