Team Anna will target politicians, not criminals: Khurshid

Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid has hit out at Team Anna, saying that the team was accusing everyone except the corrupt people in the society.

Khurshid's comments come, even as Anna Hazare today joined his team, embarking on a fast unto death, until the team's demands for a stronger Lokpal and an SIT team to probe allegations of corruption against ministers are met.

In an interview to CNN IBN, Khurshid said, "Ministers, MPs, parliament and even the President, Team Anna is not sparing anybody. The only people who are not being accused are only the pick-pockets and murderers."

Khurshid said Team Anna is only targeting people who are a part of the political system. "They will accuse anyone who is in politics. They will just spare the criminals," he said.

Khurshid had earlier said that it was not worth it to reach out to Team Anna to attempt to negotiate with them.

When asked if the government was making any attempt to reach out to the protestors, Khurshid said, “Do you think its worth it?”

Khurshid said that Team Anna need to have faith in the Indian parliamentary system and the India judiciary.

“Anybody who does not have faith in Indian judiciary, Indian parliament, Indian people, where should they go? What should they do? I believe all of us have a duty to have faith in Indian judiciary and the Supreme Court. Those who defy the Supreme Court should defy must say this in front of the people,” Khurshid said.
