Police said indefinite curfew was imposed in Kokrajhar district while night curfew would continue in Chirang and Dhubri districts. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi held an urgent meeting at his residence here over the law and order situation in the two districts and asked the state police chief JN Choudhury and Principal Secretary Home GD Tripathi to visit the districts on Tuesday. An all party delegation will also visit the two violence-hit districts Tuesday. The violence also affected train services with three express trains that were to pass through the area  stopped at an earlier station for security reasons. The violence was triggered by the firing on two student leaders,  Mohibul Islam of All Bodoland Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) and Abdul Siddique Sheikh of All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) in Kokrajhar. Both were seriously injured. In a retaliatory attack, four former Bodo Liberation Tigers cadres were killed on Friday night in the district and this led to further attacks and counter-attacks resulting in the deaths.
