Mumbai: In a incident that sparked protests by the party’s activitsts, a Shiv Sena leader was killed at his residence in Malad on Tuesday. Agencies[/caption] The head of a unit of the Sena, Ramesh Jadhav, reportedly attempted to resolve an argument between two groups outside his house in suburban Malad when he was attacked, according to this
report in The Times of India. The attacker, an individual identified only as Sohail, stabbed Jadhav with a sharp object resulting in injuries to the neck and though he was taken to a hospital, the party activist succumbed to his injuries. The incident sparked protests by activists of the Shiv Sena who surrounded the local police station demanding harsh action against the accused and also blocked the Western Express Highway. The party activists also reportedly vandalised property in the area. According to some reports, three of five attackers have been arrested by the police and the Rapid Action Force has been deployed in Malad to maintain the peace. On 19 October, another Shiv Sena worker was shot dead by unidentified persons at Punavale near Pune, police said. Raju Dashile, a local unit chief, was sitting outside his office when some unidentified persons opened fire at him and fled, they said. (With inputs from PTI)
