Shillong: Sushma Swaraj's chopper fails to land due to bad weather

Shillong: An Air Force helicopter, carrying External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, failed to land here today due to bad weather, an official said. AFP[/caption] Swaraj, accompanied by Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (rtd) V K Singh, was coming by an Air Force helicopter to the state capital to inaugurate a Passport Seva Kendra when the pilots encountered severe foggy conditions and the chopper was forced to return, Defence Spokesperson Amit Mahajan said. He said the chopper had a safe landing at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. The ministers were lodged at the VIP lounge at the Guwahati airport, but they did not like a second attempt as Swaraj had other engagements in the national capital, he said. PTI
