Pune Porsche accident: Teen driver seen in CCTV footage at a bar with friends.

A shocking revelations has come to fore in the Pune Porsche crash case. Apparently, the blood sample collected form the accused minor, was mishandled and discarded. It was then replaced with the sample of another person, before being sent to the forensic lab.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, on Monday (May 27), said, “On May 19, around 11 am the blood sample was taken at Sassoon Hospital. It was then thrown in a dustbin at the hospital and the blood sample of another person was taken and sent to the forensic lab.”

The blood sample was replaced by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Shrihari Harnor on the instructions of the HoD Forensic Medicine Department of Sassoon Hospital, the senior police officer said.

“During the investigation, we found Srihari Halnor replaced this (the blood samples) on the instructions of the HOD Forensic Medicine Department of Sassoon, Dr Ajay Tawre,” the Pune Police said.

Both Shrihari Harnor and Dr Ajay Tawre have been arrested for “manipulation in blood reports and tampering with the evidence” in the Pune Porsche crash case in which the teen son of a renowned builder allegedly rammed his Porsche Taycan into a bike, killing two young IT professionals.

Second blood report revealed the fact

A second blood test was carried out which revealed alcohol in the minor’s system. DNA tests confirmed that the samples sent to the lab were from two different individuals, which led investigators to suspect that the doctors at the government hospital had tampered with the evidence to protect the accused juvenile.

The Pune Porsche accident case is being probed by the Pune crime branch who will now be interrogating the two doctors about their alleged role in tampering with the crucial evidence after which more details will be unearthed.

Teen’s father was in ‘direct contact’ with forensic head

“The father of the minor accused was in direct contact with doctor Ajay Tawre. Crime Branch is looking out for the person with whom the blood sample was replaced. Crime Branch is in the process of taking custody of the juvenile accused’s father in the driver abduction case today who is in judicial custody currently,” the Pune Police Commissioner said.

The police claimed that the 17-year-old boy was drunk and was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

The minor was initially granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), which had asked him to write a 300-word essay on road accidents, but following a public outrage over the lenient punishment, a review application by the police was submitted after which he was sent to an observation home till June 5.

The case has been marred by controversy since the beginning, with allegations of preferential treatment and underworld connections surrounding the family of the accused.

The boy’s father, Vishal Agrawal, and grandfather, Surendra Agarwal, have also been arrested in connection with the case, with allegations of attempting to give money and threaten the family’s driver to take the blame for the accident.

Surendra Agarwal was arrested for “illegal confinement” of the driver, and was remanded in police custody till May 28, while the boy’s father, who too was named in the FIR, has been sent to judicial custody in another case registered in connection with the May 19 accident.
