AFP[/caption] Mukherjee, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh paid floral tributes at Shakti Sthal, the memorial of Indira Gandhi. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leaders Motilal Vora, M Veerappa Moily, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Ahmed Patel, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Digvijaya Singh and Shakeel Ahmad also paid tributes to Indira Gandhi. Several leaders from Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee were also present. Devotional songs were played at the venue. A speech made by Gandhi was also played on the occasion. People, who visited Shakti Sthal in New Delhi, raised slogans hailing Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her bodyguards on 31 October, 1984. PTI
