A protest erupted outside the school in Bengaluru as family members, other parents and locals in the area created an uproar and tried thrashing the accused teacher when the police came to the school to take the man away for questioning, according to NDTV . The report adds that the protesters also burned school property and vehicles, and pelted stones and bottles at the teacher and even the policemen. The police had to resort to lathi charge and even used tear gas to control the crowd. According to Times Now, four policemen were injured during the protest. Bengaluru police commissioner MN Reddi said that there should be no “instant justice” and “courts would decide on the punishment for the accused.” "And some of the unruly elements of the local area did not pay heed to what our Additional Commissioner requested them and tried to convince them over microphone and said that there is no need for spoiling peace in this area. Nevertheless, there was a law and order situation where in there was stone throwing, bottles were thrown, the policemen were injured and we had to use tear gas and lathi charge to disperse the crowd," Reddi also said, according to this DNA report . “We have taken the accused into custody. We will take stringent action in the incident,” Reddi said, according to the IBNLive report. “If anything unlawful takes place across the city, action will be taken.”
