Smartphone maker OnePlus has practically confirmed the existence of its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 5T. The company took to its official Twitter handle to tweet the image of five black cups of tea along with the caption ‘Oh, look! It’s five cups of…’. [caption id=“attachment_4190099” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Image: OnePlus Image: OnePlus[/caption] This is not the only instance where the company has dropped hints about the upcoming smartphone. OnePlus Founder and CEO ‘Pete Lau’ tweeted an image on his Twitter handle along with the caption ‘Powerful portraits tell powerful stories. Part II.” The interesting thing to note here is that this tweet comes almost five months after he tweeted an image with the caption “Powerful photos tell powerful stories.” to tease the camera quality of the OnePlus 5. The company also took to Twitter to talk about what is common in all the devices that OnePlus has released since OnePlus One confirming the presence of headphone jack in the upcoming smartphone. After the post, Pete Lau posted a blog post on OnePlus forums to talk about the company’s decision to stick to the headphone jack.

Lau pointed out that 70 percent users in the OnePlus community were looking for sound quality. The company believes that ‘for the time being’ it is best to stick with the headphone jack because wireless earbuds don’t provide the same level of audio quality. The quality can be comparable but the options ‘under $200 category’ get limited. Further elaborating the decision, Lau pointed out that about 80 percent of users use ‘in-jack headphones’.

The company also looked at introducing a second USB-C port to replace the 3.5 mm audio port but on further investigation, they concluded that it was not worth the trade-off just to make the device slimmer. He concluded the post by pointing out that OnePlus 5T will come with a headphone jack which is currently against the industry trend. OnePlus 5T is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset along with the Adreno 540 GPU. It is also likely to pack a massive 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage, though a 6 GB variant with 64 GB of storage will also be available. The phone is also expected to run Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box. The phone is said to come with a 6-inch display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080p. This had already hinted the presence of a display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The fingerprint scanner is expected to be shifted to the back for the first time on a OnePlus phone. This comes almost immediately after **Evan Blass posted** the render of the upper portion of OnePlus 5T.
