Odisha: Minor tribal girl battles for life after being gangraped

Bhubaneswar: A 16-year-old tribal girl has been allegedly gangraped in Nayagarh district and battling for life in a hospital in Cuttack, police said.

The girl's father, a resident of Kadhamirigi village, in his FIR said that his daughter went out of the house to attend nature's call at about 11.00 AM on 20 August. As she did not return, the family members searched her and found the girl in unconscious state.

The girl was allegedly gangraped by some persons who also tried to kill her, police sources said. The victim was admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack and is battling for life, a police officer said.

The girl was first admitted at the government hospital at Gania and later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. The girl's family alleged that the police initially refused to register the case only after villagers staged a demonstration, police registered the case.
