Nitish Kumar meets Mauritius High Commissioner J Goburdhun, gets invited for NRI conclave

Patna: The High Commissioner of Mauritius to India J Goburdhun on Tuesday met Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and invited him to his country on the occasion of NRI conclave there on November two next.

"The Mauritius High Commissioner invited the chief minister to attend the NRI day in the country on 2 November, 2017 as chief guest," an official statement said.

The Bihar chief minister honoured Goburdhun at his official residence.

Bihar has a special connection with Mauritius for a long time. More than 60 percent of the population of Mauritius is of Indian origin. Of them, many people are from Bihar with Bhojpuri as their mother tongue.

Sharing historical bond, Mauritius and Bihar jointly organize 'Bhojpuri festival' every year to keep the language alive.

The Mauritius High Commissioner while attending a function at the AIIMS Patna yesterday had expressed his desire to have a regular exchange of programmes of medical establishments of Mauritius with AIIMS Patna.
