Modi remains the X factor for BJP, 85% say will vote for party irrespective of candidate: Opinion poll

India is gearing up for the biggest celebration of democracy, the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. With just a few days left before the Election Commission announces the dates of the anticipated general elections, the Mega Opinion Poll by News18 gives an insight into how India perceived the last five years and what it looks forward to in the next electoral cycle.

The survey, covering 518 Lok Sabha constituencies across 21 major states, features a sample size of over 1,18,616 respondents, of which 64,453 are male voters and 54,163 are female voters.

When asked if they would vote for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, regardless of who the candidate from their constituency is, 85 per cent of 63,159 people who voted for the saffron party responded positively. Out of these, 86 per cent were male and 84 per cent were female.

Is India satisfied with how BJP and Modi performed?

Out of the total 1, 18, 616 respondents, 80 per cent said they are mostly satisfied with how the BJP and PM Modi performed in the last five years.

The question was put forth to 50, 647 are from urban areas while 67, 969 are from rural areas.

Eighty per cent of urban dwellers were happy with Modi’s performance while 79 per cent of those from rural areas gave thumbs up to the Modi-led BJP government.

Is Modi an honest leader?

When asked which qualities describe Narendra Modi better, 73 per cent of people said they think the Indian prime minister is honest, 69 per cent perceive him as a hard-working leader and 67 per cent described him as a strong leader.

A whopping 59 per cent of respondents think Modi can make their lives better.

Do you trust PM Modi?

When it comes to increasing employment opportunities, 58 per cent of people who took the survey say they trust Modi to create more jobs.

Fifty-nine per cent believe that Modi will be able to control inflation while 62 per cent say India’s economy will grow under the prime minister.

Meanwhile, 60 per cent think the Indian leader will improve communal harmony in the country.

The poll is a testament to the fact that Modi’s popularity among Indian citizens has continued to reach new heights. From people-centric schemes to public outreach, Modi has reserved a place in the hearts of Indians.
