Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said that his biggest achievement as part of the Modi government is his initiative to introduce e-carts and e-rickshaws which freed many people from the clutches of human exploitation.

Speaking at News 18 Rising Bharat Summit on Tuesday, Gadkari said, “When I took over as the minister in 2014, at least 1 crore people, especially in Bihar, West Bengal, Northeast, were involved in pulling carts and rickshaws. That is when I introduced e-carts and I am happy that 1 crore people who were being exploited got relief and are now driving e-carts and rickshaws. In a way, they also got reprieve from human exploitation.”
