According to a report in NDTVAthavale said the former MLA was accompanied by a Maharashtra education department official.  Vitthalrao was serving a notice to the school that it would be derecognised by the government, according to NDTV.

"The ex-MLA and father of MoS Home Ranjeet Patil tried to shut us down by complaining several times. They have filed petitions, but the courts have earlier ruled in our favour," school owner Sanjay Deshmukh said, NDTV reported.

Vitthalrao, whose foundation runs a nearby school, was enquiring why children preferred this school to his own, PTI reported.

Ranjit said, "A police case has been registered. My father has denied abusing or slapping anybody. Police investigation is on and facts will come out soon."
