Maharashtra Congress secretary Sanjay Choupane killed in road accident, 2 injured

Thane: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) secretary Sanjay Choupane was killed when the car he was travelling in collided with a bus near Aurangabad on Sunday, the police said.

Former Thane city Congress Committee president Balkrishna Purnekar and another person named Ramakant Mhatre accompanying Choupane were seriously injured in the incident which occurred on Sunday evening.

Choupane and others were returning from Aurangabad after attending a meeting of senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The accident took place at Bondla Phata, the police said, adding that the injured are being treated at a hospital in Aurangabad.

While Choupane and Purnekar were residents of Thane, Mhatre was a resident of Mumbai.
