5.30 pm: Sisodia promises to teach Delhi how to treat NE people Now, Manish Sisodia speaks to the crowd and promises history of North East India in Delhi text books. “They will not only contain facts and figures but people will be taught how to treat people from north east India,” says Sisodia. 5.25 pm: Kejriwal says there will be magisterial inquiry into Nido’s death CM Kejriwal says there will be a magisterial inquiry into the case. “We ordered a magisterial inquiry and we will know the truth in three to four weeks,” he says. He says that if Delhi has to become a safe place, then the criminal justice system has to be fixed. “Tell me what I can do, I will try do it,” he says. He also said that the NE youth should form a commitee and the Delhi government will notify it, which received a lot of cheers from the crowd. “I got to know about Nido through media reports. The role of police is questionable, very strange. Why was no FIR filed?,” he asked and added, “We had called for magisterial enquiry on day one. I wrote that Delhi police can’t do independent enquiry in Nido’s case.” He also said that the Delhi police would have been happy had he been corrupt. 5.19 pm: Should have been here on day one, says Kejriwal Arvind Kejriwal begins his speech and apologises for coming for the protest on the fourth day. “I should have come on day one. I apologise. But none of you approached me,” he says. 5.15 pm: Mr Kejriwal you are late, says Binalakshmi Nepram “Mr Kejriwal you are late” says Binalakshmi Nepram, well known northeast activist. Racism is rising problem she says. We need a law to fight it. 5.09 pm: Kejriwal reaches venue of protest Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has reached the protest venue as students demand justice for Nido Taniam’s death. 4.43 pm: Kejriwal to speak at NE youth protests Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will visit the protest venue by students of the North East against the brutal murder of Arunachal Pradesh student Nido Taniam in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area recently. This comes after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi met the protesters on Monday and addressed the gathering as well. [caption id=“attachment_1373779” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Nido Taniam. PTI[/caption] Meanwhile, Nido Taniam’s mother today hit out at the police and people in Delhi, demanding justice. “He coloured his hair. So what? Which young boy doesn’t colour his hair?” she questioned. Hitting out at Delhiites, she said, “Never expected that my son would die when I sent him to study in Delhi. Can’t imagine the pain of the mother… Delhi is the capital of India, if he doesn’t go there where else will he go?” she asked. She said that despite the incident she was proud to be an Indian. “Whenever people from Delhi come here (Arunachal Pradesh) we treat them with respect. People always think we are Nepali.. ask where is Arunachal Pradesh but we always feel proud to be Indian,” she said.
