Jammu and Kashmir: Policeman injured in militant attack in Shopian

Srinagar: Unidentified militants on Thursday shot at and injured a policeman posted at district court complex in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said.

The ultras shot at constable Mohammad Ashraf Akhoon at the court complex at around 11.00 AM, a police official said.
Akhoon, who sustained bullet injuries in his abdomen, was rushed to a nearby hospital. He has been referred to a hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment as his condition was stated to be 'critical'.
This is second militancy-related incident in Shopian town in the past 24 hours.
Militants opened fire on an Army party at Imam Sahib in Shopian last evening, resulting in the death of a jawan.
