Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that the youth of India must uproot politics of appeasement.

Addressing the Rising Bharat Summit 2025, Shah said, “Appeasement is a poisonous ideology. Those indulging in appeasement are against the nation.”

Slamming the Congress, he said the grand old party brought changes to Waqf Bill to appease vote bank in 2013, months before 2014 elections.

He also hit out at Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for not addressing Parliament on Waqf Bill issue despite being given ample time to debate.

“Those opposing the Waqf Act have vested interests. 21 lakh acres of land have been added to the Waqf property after 2013,” he said.

On the CAA, Shah said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and members of the INDI Alliance created an atmosphere where violence spread following the passage of the Act.

Regarding the concept of One Nation, One Poll, he noted that while some parties may oppose it now, all political outfits will ultimately support the idea for the benefit of the country.

Shah assured the people of southern states on the issue of delimitation and criticised MK Stalin’s DMK for raising the topic solely to distract from corruption.

“Is there anything happening in Himachal Pradesh on delimitation or in any other governments ruled by the INDIA bloc? Has the government announced a delimitation commission or appointed a supreme judge for delimitation? In Tamil Nadu, they are raising the issue to hide their corruption. I assure the people of South India that the BJP will not do injustice, and their seats will remain on a pro rata basis… If they stop this noise, then they have to answer about corruption and dynasty politics. They don’t want the election on issues,” he said.

“Delimitation commission is formed on the basis of act. The bill will be brought in Parliament and then it will be discussed. It might be sent to a parliamentary committee. So, why the hullabaloo now?" he asked.

Shah further expressed confidence that the BJP-led alliance will claim victory in the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and Bihar.

Addressing the language debate, Shah stated, “I am not a Hindi speaker. I am a Gujarati. The opposition claims that I speak about Hindi. But I propagate Indian languages. I believe we need to preserve all Indian languages if we want to connect with our roots and history. Before our government, Congress imposed Hindi and English on students of all languages. We ensured that government exams are taken in regional languages as well. Students are studying medical and engineering in their regional languages."
