Sahu said the upper air circulation in the Bay of Bengal near Bangladesh is causing rainfall in the state.

Mahanadi river catchment area will also receive good amount of rainfall, he said.

Meanwhile, sources in the IMD said that most places over north and interior Odisha have received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeter are at Jagatsinghpur (11 cm), Baripada (10 cm) and Jaipur (9 cm).
