'I am not the Park Street rape victim. I am Suzette Jordan': Twitter mourns her untimely death

Suzette Jordan's stereotype-defying statement in an interview to BBC in 2013 reveals her zeal to live a free life despite going through a terrible tragedy. She died at the age of 40, on Friday morning of a combination of meningitis and encephalitis in a hospital in Kolkata.

Her tragedy was no short of controversies. From West Bengal's CM calling her an enemy of the state, to people pointing fingers at her moral character, calling her an escort and prostitute, Suzette's life was no cake walk. Her friend, and gay-rights activist Harish Iyer revealed in a heart-warming letter that, "India killed Suzette. You killed her."
