Gorkhaland demand: Centre not instigating Darjeeling agitation, says Ravi Shankar Prasad

Kolkata: Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday refuted the Trinamool Congress' charges that the Centre has been instigating the pro-Gorkhaland agitation in the Darjeeling hills.

"We do not instigate (people). We have sent armed forces. We are fully cooperating, but ultimately it is the state government which has to take the initiative," Union Minister for Law, Justice and IT Prasad told reporters on the sidelines of an event.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had alleged that the Centre was not cooperating and sending sufficient forces to the hills to contain the pro-Gorkhaland agitation in the Darjeeling hills and had blamed the BJP for the unrest over the GJM's demand for a separate state.
