Gogoi expresses concern over rhino killings at Kaziranga, orders probe
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday ordered a probe into the rhino killing in Kaziranga National Park recently.
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday directed Additional Chief Secretary TY Das to probe into the killing of two rhinos in Kaziranga National Park recently and to submit a report to him immediately.
According to an official release, Gogoi expressed serious concern over the rhino killings in the past few days and asked the additional chief secretary to go into details of the circumstances leading to the killing of two rhinos. He also ordered to fix up responsibility on the part of those protecting the rhinos.
Terming the killings as "very unfortunate", Gogoi asked the special task force constituted to curb poaching to intensify operations against poachers and their accomplices.
He also issued directions for evolving strategies to tackle rhino poaching by holding discussions with various students, social and community organisations and NGOs involved in wildlife protection.

The incident happened on 15 September when a teenager, named Jublee Tamuli, appeared for the entrance test of Jorhat’s Assam Agricultural University (AAU)
The Commission, in an email sent to the DGP, also sought to know if he has received any notice, order, etc. on the same issue from the state human rights commission
