The mother of the three-year-old girl allegedly raped by her father, a French diplomat, has appealed to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to intervene in the case to ensure that investigations proceeded and did not come to a standstill over her husband's diplomatic status.
"I have been extremely traumatized by the incident and the incidents that followed," the child's mother Suja Jones Mazurier told Times Now.
"I appeal to Minister of External Affairs SM Krishna and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in this matter," she said, adding their intervention into the diplomatic status of her husband could enable investigations to move ahead better.Pascal Mazurier, Deputy Head of Chancery in the French Consulate in Bangalore, reportedly holds a service passport and not a diplomatic passport due to which he could face prosecution, officials said.
The child’s mother reported the case to police with the help of a Bangalore-based NGO after her maid told her that the three-year-and-ten-month-old child was sexually abused.
The mother immediately took her child to a private hospital at Hebbal which confirmed the sexual assault. Mazurier has been booked in a case of rape under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.
She had requested that her husband be restrained from leaving the country till legal proceedings were completed and that under no circumstance should he be allowed custody of their children, who are French nationals.
"With my three children I have been doing everything necessary to get justice," she said today.
"I have been taking care of my children’s needs. I see a pause in the investigations and it's really frustrating since we need justice," Mazurier said.
