In Delhi’s Red Fort blast case, suspect Umar’s Ford EcoSport car has been found in Haryana’s Khandawali village, sources have told CNN-News 18.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi Police had sounded an alert about Umar’s red Ford EcoSport suspected to be linked to the Red Fort blast case.
The Delhi Police had shared details of the car, which is registered in Umar’s name, with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh’s police as well.
All police station in Delhi, posts, and border checkpoints were alerted to look out and search for the car after investigation revealed that suspects had another car in addition to the Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort, according to ANI.
The news agency reported that Delhi Police had formed five teams to search for the car.
Formally, the Delhi Police or the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has taken over the case, have not commented on the matter.
In the Red Fort blast, a car exploded at a traffic signal near the Red Fort Metro Station, at least 12 people were killed and around 20 were injured.
It is understood that investigators believe the explosion is linked to the interstate 'white collar' terrorist module that was busted days ago spanning from Jammu and Kashmir to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. At least seven persons have been arrested in the case and 2,900 kilograms of explosives and several weapons have been seized in the case so far.
As part of the crackdown on the module, multiple people were arrested in Faridabad where around 2,900 kg of explosives were recovered. But is understood that Umar, the suspect in the Red Fort blast case, escape while others were nabbed.
