The CDS examination is conducted twice a year. Those candidates who pass the CDS (I) and CDS (II) examinations will be granted admission for the academic year 2019.
The examination was conducted on 4 February, 2018. 8261 candidates have qualified for the interview round, which will be conducted by the the Service Selection Board (SSB) of the Ministry of Defence.

Follow these steps to check the results:
- Go to the official website upsc.gov.in
- Click on Written Result: Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2018.
- Click on the result PDF.
- Look for your roll number in the PDF to check your result.
- Take a printout for future reference.
Qualifying candidates must register on the Indian Army's recruitment website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in before 10 April, 2018 in order to receive details about the Selection Centres and dates for the SSB interview. Candidates will receive this information via email. It must be noted that candidates who have already completed the registration process need not register again.
The marksheet of aspirants who have not qualified, will be available on the Commission’s website within 15 days from the date of publication of the final result of OTA.

In the first round, a computer based Test will be conducted. The selected candidates will move to the next round of scrutiny which is the Interview or personality test round.
Applicants should note that the registration window will close on 27 July while the exam will be conducted on 21 November
