CBI arrests Mumbai I-T commissioner BB Rajendra Prasad on charges of taking bribes from corporate house

In a sensational development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested six people including BB Rajendra Prasad, the incumbent Commissioner of Income tax (Appeals), Mumbai, on charges of receiving bribes from a corporate house, The Indian Express reported. According to an ANI report, Rs 1.5 crores was seized by the CBI during the raid against the six accused.

The case came into light when the CBI caught the accused accepting a bribe of Rs 19 lakh, DNA reported.

The investigating agency also raided Essar's Mumbai office and seized some documents, an action which took place based on an FIR filed in Vishakapatnam, Moneycontrol reported.

Prasad and the five others will be produced in a Vishakapatnam court on Wednesday, DNA added. "We will be seeking their transit remand and will produce them before a court in Vishakhapatnam," a CBI official was quoted by report as saying.
