Assam to introduce file tracking system for transparency

Guwahati: Assam government has decided to introduce "File tracking" mechanism as part of its effort to bring in transparency in governance and to allow common people track the position of a file.

Once this new system is inducted in finance department, it will be replicated in all the departments of the government, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said at a meeting with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati.

Finance department will also take recourse to 'on-line' system to prepare budget and distribute the same to all
offices and maintain a constant link with the Reserve Bank of India through a Core Banking Solution 'e-Kuber', an official release said.

Besides taking help of 'on-line' mode for preparing salary bills, preparation for a comprehensive data base for all
government employees are in the agenda of priorities of the department.

The Chief Minister during the meeting stressed on furnishing timely utilisation certificates against different
schemes by the departments and timely completion of major welfare schemes within three years.

If a particular department can not fully complete the scheme within the stipulated period, the head of the department would show the cause for it, he said.
