13 years later: Delhi police file chargesheet against Cronje in match fixing case

After 13 years, the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet in the cricket match-fixing scandal unearthed in 2000, in which the accused include former South African captain Hansie Cronje and others.

Among those named in the chargesheet include Krishan Kumar, the brother of T-series music mogul Kishan Kumar, apart from Cronje, reported CNN-IBN.

Delhi Police officials had said that they were keen on filing the chargesheet, which will be filed before the current Commissioner of Police Neeraj Kumar demits his office on July 31.

Delhi Police had been struggling to file a chargesheet 13 years after having exposed the murky world of match-fixing in 2000.

It was in April 2000 that the Crime Branch stumbled upon the match fixing scandal when they intercepted the calls of a London-based bookie.

During investigations it was found that along with Cronje, some of his teammates were also part of the fixing league.
