Toronto: Swedish DJ Avicii’s concert turned disastrous when almost 30 revelers had to be hospitalised due to alcohol poisoning and drug use.

“Unfortunately we have a few children who couldn’t handle excessive alcohol and partying,” said Peter Rotolo, Commander, Emergency Medical Services.

According to local reports, 29 fans were taken to the hospital and suffered from side-effects of alcohol or drug use. Five people were said to be in a serious condition.

The concert took place on 17 May, where fans flocked to the sold-out show, at the 20,000-seat Rogers Centre. Few concertgoers fell ill even before the DJ began his set, reported contactmusic.com.
