After testing a payment option, Facebook-owned chat app WhatsApp has rolled out the 'Group Description' feature in the latest Beta update.
The new feature lets you add a description to a WhatsApp group with a 500 character limit.
According to a report on WABetaInfo, any group member can add the description about the group, which will be similar to the 'About' feature seen on Facebook.
The Group Admin can change the permission letting everyone edit the description or turning editing off entirely.
The description is a big deal because it appears as a preview in the link sent to third parties.
When a new member joins a group, the participant will be able to see the same in a pinned box above the chat window.
The feature is available on both Android and Windows phone. The Android Beta version 2.18.54 and Windows Beta version 2.18.28 of the app brings this feature to the app. iOS beta users have yet to see the new feature in the beta version.
