UK bans 'misleading' Coca-Cola ad

New York: Authorities in the United Kingdomhave banned a Coca-Cola television ad because they say it can mislead viewers about how easy it is to burn off the caloriesin a Coke. The ad in question, which is also shown in the US, showsa variety of activities like dog walking, dancing and laughingthat it says would burn off the 139 calories in a singleserving of the soft drink. New York: Authorities in the United Kingdomhave banned a Coca-Cola television ad because they say it can

The ad in question, which is also shown in the US, showsa variety of activities like dog walking, dancing and laughingthat it says would burn off the 139 calories in a singleserving of the soft drink.

But the Advertising Standards Authority, which regulatesadvertising in the UK, says the ad doesn’t make clear enoughthat all of the activities need to be done in combination inorder to burn 139 calories.

It noted that some viewers who complained thought onlyone of the activities was needed.

Coca-Cola representatives did not immediately return arequest for comment.
