Two Ulfa couriers killed in bomb blast

Guwahati/Haflong: Two Ulfa couriers were killed when the bomb they were transporting exploded inside their car at Umrangso in Assam’s Dima Hasao district. Reuters[/caption] The accidental explosion occurred at Saat Kilo in Umrangso last night on the Umrangso-Meghalaya Road, the police said in Haflong today. The deceased were identified as Md Mainuddin and Aniruddin belonging to the Lanka area of Nagaon district from the recovered vehicle registration certificate, the sources said. Under the impact of the blast, the head and face of driver Md Mainuddin were severely mutilated and vehicle owner Aniruddin’s body was thrown out onto the road causing instant death, they said. The blast also damaged the dash board of the car and the sharpnels shattered the front and rear windshields of the car the bits of which fell 40 metres away, the sources said. PTI
