Former minister Jahar Saha was expelled Sunday from the Congress for six years after he blasted the state leadership for losing the assembly elections to the Marxists. Saha was denied a party ticket in the 14 February election. The Congress won only 10 of the 60 seats in the state. The ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist retained power for a seventh time winning 50 seats. Saha Saturday flayed state Congress president Sudip Roy Barman and outgoing opposition leader Ratan Lal, saying their “treachery” led to the electoral rout. “Barman and Nath sold the Congress to the Left parties in exchange for cash and other benefits,” Saha told reporters. He said “unworthy people” were fielded by the Congress. PTI
