The Dramatic Arts and Design Academy (DADA) in Delhi will host a theatre festival under the auspices of the Royal Norwegian Embassy to present the richness and diversity of the work of Henrik Ibsen and the varied manifestations of his text performed by international theatre groups. [caption id=“attachment_536717” align=“alignleft” width=“321”]  Ibsen Festival.[/caption] International directors have been invited to work on Ibsen productions with Indian theatre companies. Wlodzimierz Staniewski from Poland directs The Master Builder with the Kolkata based group, Padatik. Other productions are from Norway, Uzbekistan and Pakistan, and will include The Lady from the Sea, Ghosts and A Doll’s House. Younger directors from Manipur and Kerala showcase an interesting confrontation between Ibsen and the influence of the existing traditions in their cultures. Heisnam Tomba from Manipur and Sankar Venkateshwaran from Kerala are doing specially commissioned productions of Ibsen. They include, When We dead awaken, and An Enemy of the People.
